Friday 30 April 2010

So last night was the first of my Dinners for a Year... Of course I forgot to take a final photo so just have a couple of "In Progress" shots...I'll try to do better tonight..

We had guests for dinner last night - Cliff my husbands father (aka Father-in-law) and Catherine a friend of mine. It was a really nice night and dinner turned out perfectly.

We had roast dinner as it is getting a bit chilli outside and it's what I felt like for a couple of days...Chicken with spices and butter, roast potatoes, butternut pumpkin, garlic and onion, and steamed broccoli, zucchini and carrots. yummo...

Dessert was od hoc - muffins I had made in the afternoon (white chocolate and raspberry), chopped up, heated, with some custard. Now that tasted good, a pretty good top off I must say.

So this is the roast vegetables, and the chichen cooking,

And this is the vegetables..

Like I said, no photo of the end product...

But to make up for that, here are some cakes which we had Ryan's 4th birthday a few weeks ago.

This is the little mini one we had one his birthday day ...bought, decorated at home with the marshmallows, tasted yummy!

Then we had a couple of his little friends over on the weekend and of course Ryan wanted a train cake. So not to disappoint, and with the knowledge i'd be up until all hours the night before decorating..here is the train. Pity it looked better than it tasted, the cake was a bit overcooked and I normally cook a mud cake not a plain vanilla cake when decorating them, but somehow I don't think Ryan was too worried nor interested in eating cake at all, just the train aspect :)

Yeah, I like making and decorating cakes and yes, that is my beloved mixer in the rubbish bin - it blew up mid mix..I'm in the market for a new one now :)

Until tomorrow...

You can't beat a roast dinner! Easy to make and delicious to eat. Once upon a time chicken was a luxury usually only eaten at Christmas. Your cakes look terrific! Now you can lust after a KitchenAid. Cheers, Ann :-)
